Rebekah’s passion for dancing began at the tender age of three when she donned her first pair of ballet shoes. Rebekah was trained in both Vaganova method and the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) examination system, for which she achieved Honours in all of her examinations.
At the age of 9 she became the youngest associate of the Australian Ballet School in their inaugral associate program, which subsequently lead to being invited to perform many child roles in various productions with the Australian Ballet Company including ‘Clara the Child’ in Graeme Murphy’s Nutcracker.
At the age of 15, Rebekah became the first student to be accepted into the Australian Ballet School Full Time Program without an Audition, where she completed her professional dance training. During her time at the School she received many scholarships and opportunities for excellence including: three scholarships for excellence (one for each year), journeying to Paris to perform in Danses de Mai, participating in the inaugral student exchange to Canada’s National Ballet School, and having the role of the ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ created for her in the Premiere Performance of Leigh Rowles’ ‘The Nutcracker’, for which she received glowing reviews.
Upon graduation in 2002, Rebekah received the Advanced Diploma of Dance and began her international professional career with the Hong Kong Ballet the very next day.
She went on to work as a Principal artist with Peter Schaufuss Ballet in Denmark and then Ballet Jorgen in Canada.
Rebekah performed many roles during her career, highlights include: ‘Clara’ in Nutcracker, ‘Beauty Fairy’ in Sleeping Beauty, ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ in The Nutcracker, and ‘Little Stepsister’ in Cinderella, ‘Cygnets’ in Swan Lake, ‘Cupid solo’ in Paquita, ‘Stars and Stripes’ Pas de Deux, and “Trio girl’ in Symphony in D.
On her return to Australia in 2006, Rebekah danced with the Melbourne Ballet Company before accepting a 2 year contract as the Principal Dancer, Meg Cover and Dance Coach, with the Phantom of the Opera Australian, New Zealand and Taiwan Tour.
Upon completion of her time with Phantom of the Opera, Rebekah returned to Melbourne and focused her efforts to Dance Teaching and and Personal Training. She taught at ballet at various schools and has spent several years coaching dance for elite artistic gymnasts. She has a Bachelors degree in Arts (Journalism, Behavioural Science), Postgraduate Diploma of Teaching, Intermediate Gymnastics Coach, Master Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach.
She has written an ebook on elite nutrition called the ‘Lithe Fit and Toned Nutrition and Lifestyle Program’, a guide for eating to gain and mantain elite form. Rebekah continues to dance and now competes in Latin Ballroom Competitions.
Rebekah’s passion for dance and professional experience carries through to her teaching and she delights in instilling students with the joy of dance and helping to create the stars of the future.
